BREE Coordinates Tour of Philadelphia International Airport for BREE Interns and COMTO CITY Interns

On August 5, 2015, BREE & Associates coordinated a tour of Philadelphia International Airport for BREE Interns and COMTO CITY Interns. We used SEPTA’s Regional Rail to make our way to the Airport. Initially our interns were very excited, some because they had never even been inside the airport, so it was a new experience all around. Our tour commenced at the International Arrivals terminal of the airport. This section was filled with admiration of the Declaration of Independence as seen in the pictures. Our tour was given by Denise Stith and John Hansen from the Airport’s public relations department. We were escorted to the River Watch Operations Tower where you could easily see all the planes departing and arriving at the airport, as well as all the land occupied by the airport.

BREE & Associates, Inc. is on the team that will be doing the Construction Management services for the Runway 27L extension; it was a great experience being able to see from the Operation Tower where our project would be taking place and to hear how it will benefit the airport. BREE’s involvement with such a valuable organization, such as PHL, made the interns proud. The airport tour was a huge success, and sparked sky-high interest in the interns…pun intended!

BREE Participates in COMTO CITY Internship Closing Ceremony held at AECOM

On July 29, 2015, BREE attended the COMTO CITY Internship Closing Ceremony luncheon at AECOM. This was a special day for interns Alpha Mansary and Temitope Adeniji as they were able to reflect on the several weeks they spent learning in their internship as well as hear feedback from the people with which they worked. As expected, nothing but positivity engulfed the room. Everyone was pleased with their experiences, interns and workers alike. Even Jasmine Narcisse, Marketing Coordinator of BREE & Associates, who stayed in very close contact with the interns providing support and advice whenever she could, had plenty to say. Her heartwarming words about the interns had the whole room holding back tears. Jasmine Narcisse is a former COMTO CITY Intern and BREE & Associates, Inc. hired her as soon as she completed her degree—BREE is a proud supporter and advocate of COMTO and their internship program! Special guest Moishi Moses was in attendance, providing insight about her new position as president and CEO of COMTO, and all of which she planned to bring as well as receive from the organization. She was delighted to be apart of the closing ceremony and learn truly how much the org is impacting the youth. This was also a good opportunity for new intern of BREE & Associates, Quianna Miller to learn about COMTO and what they have to offer. This year’s ceremony was one of reflection and projection, causing excitement for the years to come!

BREE Coordinates Tour of SEPTA Control Room for BREE Interns and COMTO CITY Interns

On July 24, 2014, BREE & Associates, Inc., along with John Merrigan of SEPTA, coordinated a tour of SEPTA’s control room for our summer interns and also invited the local COMTO interns along. To many people SEPTA, or Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, is just a means of transportation; a way to get to work, to school, or to get around the busy city that is Philadelphia. Most people only have the opportunity to interact with the drivers of trolleys, buses, or trains, and don’t really realize the extent of operations that occur behind the scenes to ensure that things run smoothly. This day we learned all about that. Since SEPTA is such a big part of Philadelphian lifestyle, BREE staff and interns were ecstatic to learn more about the operations that keep us motile. For the tour we were taken into the control room, and introduced to the people who make SEPTA efficient. Our wonderful tour guide, Michaeleen Benson, Director of Transportation (Bus), was full of fascinating information just as much as our interns were full of curious questions. Many of these questions were centered on the individual’s personal experience riding SEPTA.  Everyone was able to reference their specific route or method of getting home from work every day. “When my bus or train is running late, is there a way to track it or talk to someone who can inform me on when it will come?” According to Ms. Benson there’s actually a link on the SEPTA website that can show you the buses and trains in real time which is perfect for tracking! You can also talk directly to the employees who can tell you exactly when your bus is coming by calling the number shown on the bus stop. These questions and answers definitely shows how vital transportation is to each of us and the importance of an efficiently run system, such as SEPTA. Towards the end of the tour, we ended up in the WAR room, where Senior officials of SEPTA meet to discuss emergency operations and major events, such the Pope coming to Philadelphia. During his time here in September, some SEPTA employees will be required to spend the night to make sure everything is in perfect order. Now that’s dedication! Thanks to these dedicated employees, almost everywhere in Philadelphia is accessible. You know how they say America runs on Dunkin? Well Philly runs on SEPTA!

A special thank you to our valued client, SEPTA, and their gracious staff for hosting our firm.
